SeaBee – The Best Navy Exam Study App Built for US Navy Seals

Project Overview

SeaBee is a free, comprehensive Navy exam study app built by Orbilon Technologies for American Navy Seals preparing for their advancement exams. The app covers everything a sailor needs to pass — AI-generated quizzes, a 200-question Moc exam, study guides, flashcards, audiobooks, and a built-in AI chatbot — all structured by job function and chapter for organised, effective preparation.

This Navy exam study app was built as a cross-platform mobile solution using Flutter and Firebase, backed by a full ASP.NET Core REST API and an Angular admin panel that gives administrators complete control over users, job functions, chapters, quizzes, and study content.

The app includes a monthly subscription via Apple In-App Purchase that unlocks premium features, including the AI chatbot, giving sailors access to the most powerful study tool available for Navy advancement exams.

Project Overview

The gap we found in the market was that there was no organised, structured study material for the Navy advancement exam preparation. Sailors lacked a single trusted tool that amalgamated practice quizzes, mock exams, flashcards, audiobooks, and AI, aiding learning all under one roof.

The data was huge, study material gigabytes for several job functions, each one divided into chapters, basic and advanced levels, and hundreds of questions. The main technical difficulty was how to structure and present this content to be easily navigable on a mobile device.

Key issues addressed by this Navy exam study app:

  • There was no organised digital study tool for the Navy Seals advancement exam prep.
  • The study data had to be divided into a sharp hierarchy: Job Functions Chapters, Basic/Advanced Questions, and Dynamic Quizzes of 20 questions each.
  • Each quiz had to be unique on every retake, timed, pausable, and resumable, and the answers had to be stored for later review.
  • The AI chatbot had to be capable of functioning seamlessly with GBs of study material, which was done at an 85% success rate.
  • Flashcard content, audiobooks, and study guides had to be organised per chapter and made available at a glance.

Our Solution: A Complete Navy Exam Study App

Orbilon Technologies designed and built SeaBee as a fully structured, feature-rich Navy exam study app. Here is everything delivered:

1. Social Login & Job Function Profile Setup

Users log in using Google, Apple, or Facebook social authentication and complete their profile by selecting their job function — a one-time selection per account that defines all the study content they see. Once set, the app shows all chapters, quizzes, audiobooks, flashcards, and study guides relevant to that specific job function.

2. Structured Chapter Navigation

Expanding any chapter inside this Navy exam study app gives users access to four core study tools in one place — Study Guide, Quizzes, Flashcards, and Audio Book — making it easy to switch between learning modes without leaving the chapter context.

Each chapter belongs to a specific job function manual (Basic or Advanced), and the app displays a full summary including total chapters, total questions, and Moc exam status at a glance. For example, the Construction Mechanic Basic manual contains 14 chapters, 1,195 questions, and a 200-question Moc exam.

3. AI-Generated Quizzes with Passing Criteria

The quiz system is the core of this Navy exam study app. Each quiz contains 20 randomly selected questions from the chapter’s question bank and must be completed within 20 minutes. Users can pause, resume, or retake any quiz — and every retake generates a completely different set of questions to prevent memorisation.

Results from every attempt are stored and available for review, giving sailors a clear picture of their progress over time. The Moc exam — a 200-question timed exam that mirrors the real Navy advancement exam — only unlocks once the user achieves 80% or above on all chapter quizzes, ensuring they are genuinely ready before attempting it.

Each question includes a correct answer, a detailed explanation, and three incorrect options — giving users the context they need to understand, not just memorise.

4. Study Guides, Flashcards, and Audiobooks

Besides quizzes, the Navy exam study app has three more ways to learn each chapter:

  • Study Guide: It’s got all the info on each chapter, broken down with headings and key points. Read it before you try the quizzes to get a good base.
  • Flashcards: These cards pop up randomly with key ideas from the chapter. One side has a question, the other has the answer. Great for quick studying. Just hit Next Card to go at your speed.
  • Audiobooks: Chapter content is broken into sections you can play, pause, and rewind whenever. These are great for studying on the go, like during your commute, or anytime you can’t read. The audio screen shows the chapter and gives you total control.

5. AI Chatbot for Q&A on Study Material

We’ve got a cool AI chatbot now for our Navy exam study app, but it’s only for subscribers. Instead of digging through tons of study stuff to find answers, you can just ask the chatbot questions about the tricky parts of the quizzes or guides. It’ll give you the right answer right away.

Getting the info set up so the chatbot works right with so much data was really tough. But after a lot of planning and testing, it’s working great. It gets the right answer about 85% of the time, which is awesome since there’s so much stuff to know.

6. Question Feedback System

Now, when doing a quiz, folks can give feedback on the questions right there. If something’s confusing, wrong, or just not well explained in the question, answers, or explanation, they can let us know super quickly.

All that feedback goes straight to the admin panel. Admins can look at each report, decide if it’s valid, and then either trash it or use it to fix the question. This helps us keep our questions fresh and correct because of what users tell us.

7. Admin Panel — Full Content Management

The back-office admin application — built in Angular with PrimeNG/PrimeFlex and powered by ASP.NET Core REST APIs — gives administrators complete control over the entire platform:

  • Manage users and subscriptions.
  • Create and manage job functions and chapters.
  • Add, edit, import, and delete questions (with correct answers, explanations, and 3 incorrect options).
  • Upload and manage audiobook sections.
  • Review and action user feedback submissions.

The admin panel supports bulk import of questions — the Technical Administration chapter alone contains 1,195 questions broken into 60 quizzes of 20 questions each, all dynamically generated.
