CareHub App - Empowering Care
Built using Flutter, Firebase, and Google APIs.
— Helping Caregivers with the families and person-in-need
— The app has three roles i.e. caregiver, person-in-need and family member of the person-in need who is managing everything for their loved ones including managing the caregiver & payments.
— Smoothens the communication between a caregiver (which is often a foreign entity from a non-native language in some other country) by using the Google’s context aware ML translation service in the inbox and when managing the tasks.
— Both Family member and the caregiver can communicate (over texts) in their own languages while they receive the translated messages into their own language. Same’s true for the tasks.
The Challenge:
The idea of this app was unique as there was a clear market gap for it in the caregivers/family members world in the health industry.
- Caregivers often are the people from foreign countries who don’t understand the native
language when they arrive in a country. For example, a person from Philippines who may be a specialised caregiver lands in France but doesn’t understand French or English. From day 1 on their job, communication is generally the number 1 barer in this industry because they don’t understand French while the family they are working for might not understand Pilipino.
- Same is the case with all the task management apps out there that don’t do the auto
translations so both parties can work together using their own preferred language.
The Solution:
We built this innovative app – a cross-platform solution that enables users to:
— Build their personal profiles, and go through the onboarding process.
— Family member admin sets up the person-in-need details (that might be his parent, spouse or any loved one) and then invites the caregiver through his phone number.
— Caregiver receives the invite (after setting up the CareHub account) and may accept/decline the invite. Upon acceptance, their communication channels are enabled through the use of Google’s ML translation service.
— Family member who’s incharge of the person-in-need can assign tasks to this caregiver. The tasks can be setup as repetitive and can contain media/instructions in their own native language. Caregivers sees those tasks in their preferred language to avoid any confusion and can update the status of the task.
Carehub login with the OTP flow and profile setup
The screen on left shows the chat window in the translated Urdu (preferred) language for the caregiver while on right, the family member’s inbox shows the chat in English (his preferred lang.)
Caregiver’s view – everything is in Urdu as it is his native language. The family member admin added all of this data in their own preferred language which was English so the auto-translation service translates everything in between.
Family member’s admin view to create and manage tasks. One caregiver can work with multiple families and one family can also receive the care from multiple caregivers therefore while adding the tasks, the family member has to assign it to the caregiver which will then start to show in in their view as shown above.
Family member’s view – everything is in his native language (English). The caregiver sent messages in Urdu but they auto translate and are shown in English to reduce the communication gap.
